The programming for Course Set Menus is quite flexible but you will find it very easy to assemble your Course Set Menu if you plan the contents in a logical order.

 

Follow this procedure for the best results. Work out:

 

- The courses you will need.

- The PLUs that will be in each course.

- The 'Department' you to which you will assign 'Course Set Menu' PLUs. You may want to create a Department especially for them.

- The cooking instructions, sides, garnishes, sauces, etc. that will be used for your main dishes.

- The 'Item Parameter' settings you will need.

- The 'Order Character' settings you will need.

Then:

- Create the 'Order Character' settings ('Programming - Order Character').

- Create the 'Item Parameter' settings ('Programming - PLUs - PLU Parameters').

- Create all the PLUs assigning 'Order Character', 'Item Parameter' and 'Department' settings to them as appropriate ('Programming - PLUs').

- Create all the Set Menus (e.g. Starter, How to Cook, Garnish, etc.) adding PLUs to them as appropriate ('Programming - Set Menus').

- Create the Course Set Menu PLU and assemble the Course Set Menu ('Programming - Course Set Menu').

As you will see later, it is also possible create new PLUs (by copying an existing one) and Set Menus in the Course Set Menu designer.
