Copy a Set Menu

It is possible to copy a Set Menu in the designer. You may, for example, want use a very similar Set Menu, add a few PLUs but still want to keep the original Set Menu the same. This feature is best suited to copying Set Menus that are near or at the bottom of the chain of Set Menus in the hierarchy of the tree. The reason for this is that, when you copy a Set Menu, the links associated with its member PLUs are also copied so your new Set Menu could inherit a considerable chain of links if it is near the top or in the middle of a sequence.

You should take care because if you then subsequently edit one of the links lower down in the chain, you will also be altering the behaviour of your original Set Menu.

So, a good example of using this feature would be to copy the 'Starter' Set Menu, add a couple of extra Starter PLUs to the copy and then use that copy in a Course Set Menu. Starter courses generally don't have a long chains of options so they are a good candidate for using this feature. You may not use it so much for Main or similar courses.

1. Expand the tree so that you can click on the Set Menu you want to copy. Highlight it and click 'Copy Set Menu'.

2. Enter a name for your new Set Menu and click 'Ok'.

3. Your new Set Menu will now appear in the 'Set Menu Selector' and will be available for use (or you can add PLUs to it or remove PLUs from it).

Don't forget that you do not need to click 'Save' to save your new Set Menu; it is saved when you click 'Ok' on the dialog.
