Examples of Batch PLU Programming

You can change any PLU setting using this tool and the choices change dynamically depending on the type of setting that is being changed. For example, select ‘Colour’ and the second box will offer a range of PLU colours to choose from. Select ‘’Enabled’ and ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ will be offered to allow you to set whether the PLU is active or not. Prices cannot be changed in this screen – use the ‘Prices’ option to change prices.

Example 1. Move PLUs from one Department to another. Let’s assume you want to split the ‘Starter’ department into two different departments and therefore need to move a range of PLUs at the same time. In this example, we would create, say, ‘Hot Starters’ and ‘Cold Starters’ as Departments in advance.  Select a Department at the top so that all the PLUs in that Department are displayed, then select ‘Department’ from the left side drop down list. From the drop down list to the right select ‘Hot Starters’. Tick the check boxes next to the PLUs you want to move and click ‘Save Changes’. The ‘Department’ of the selected PLUs is changed to ‘Hot Starters’. Repeat for ‘Cold Starters’.

Example 2. Change the ‘Item Parameter’ used by a range of PLUs. Choose an appropriate filter or search criteria so that the PLUs you want to change are displayed. For example, you could search for ‘Steak’ or select whatever Department steaks are allocated to. Select ‘Parameter’ from the left side drop down list and then the actual ‘Parameter’ you want to apply in the right side box (it must already exist so you have to create it in advance). Tick the PLUs you want to change and click ‘Save Changes’. The ‘Item Parameter’ value for all the selected PLUs is changed. If the ‘Apply To All Branches’ box was ticked, the change is applied to all branches; otherwise it is applied to only the branch selected at the very top of the screen.

Example 3. Change the Tax Code for Price2 for a range of PLUs. Choose an appropriate filter or search criteria so that the PLUs you want to change are displayed. Select ‘Tax Code 2’ from the left side drop down list then select, for example, ‘TAX2’ from the right side drop down list. Tick the PLUs you want to apply this change to then click ‘Save Changes’. The ‘Tax Code’ used by the ‘Price2’ band for all the selected PLUs is changed.
